Campus Experience

College is an experience I will never forget. I can honestly say I have lived life to the fullest and never gave up when I thought life in itself was over. I never thought I would be where I am today. I always dreamt of going to University  and accomplishing something important; and now I have come to live my dream. When I was younger, I lived at home with my parents and lived under the strict rules of my grandma . He basically ruled my life and anything he said was not to be argued with. He was always right. Always. I realized that I couldnt let my grandma continue to ruin my life and took it upon myself to leave home and start over. I saved every shillings I had to afford an education.  At the very beginning of college, I hated being me. I hated being the outcast and not fitting in. It hurt a lot and because I was so stuck on being accepted, I failed my first semester. I then realized that I loved the courses I was taking and decided to put every effort I had into my ...

CLIMATICAL CHANGE AND ITS IMPACTS

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. These shifts may be natural, but since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels (like coal, oil and gas), which produces heat-trapping gases. Burning of fossil fuels generates green house gas emissions that includes carbon dioxide and methane .Use of gasoline to drive a car or charcoal for heating a building , clearing of forests can bring about release of carbon dioxide  and landfills for garbage to produce methane . Climate change "refugee's" have risen due to rise of sea level , saltwater intrusion bringing about drought hence people shifting to other places  thus famine and dependency. To verify on climate change it has brought about poverty and dependency, more health risks, loss of species of animals, hotter temperatures from the green house effect gas concentration too. Change in climate has made business a thr...

MOMBASA PORT OPERATION REVERTS

Kenya'sPresident William Ruto has returned all port operations transferred to Nairobi and Naivasha Inland Container Depots (ICDs) to Mombasa, reversing one of the most controversial policies of the Jubilee administration. To ensure that the standard gauge railway (SGR) has minimum guaranteed business to repay the Ksh450 billion ($3.7 billion) debt taken to build it, the Uhuru Kenyatta administration forced traders to use the modern railway line, a policy that saw the government transfer clearance to enforce compliance. Read:  Mandatory SGR use causes unease among importers Speaking on Tuesday during his inauguration, Dr Ruto said the move is aimed at restoring thousands of jobs that had been lost in Mombasa. “This afternoon, I will be issuing instructions for clearance of all goods and other attendant operational issues to revert to the port of Mombasa. This restores thousands of jobs in the city of Mombasa,” said Dr Ruto. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2019 launched the...

TOXIC RELATIONSHIPS

Think of it this way: Even good relationships take work. After all, our significant other, our close friends, and even our parents aren’t perfect (and, oddly enough, they may not see us as perfect either). We have to learn how to accommodate and adapt to their idiosyncrasies, their faults, and their moods, just as they must learn how to do the same with us. And it’s worth it. Some relationships, however, are more difficult and require proportionately more work. We are not clones but individuals, and some individuals in relationships are going to have more difficulties or more disagreements. But because we value these relationships, we’re willing to make the effort it takes to keep them. And then there are toxic relationships. These relationships have mutated themselves into something that has the potential, if not corrected, to be extremely harmful to our well-being. These relationships are not necessarily hopeless, but they require substantial and difficult work if they are to b...

THE LGBT COMMUNITY

Image
Queer art, also known as LGBT+ art or queer aesthetics, broadly refers to modern and contemporary visual art practices that draw on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender+ imagery and issues.[1][2][3] While by definition there can be no singular "queer art", contemporary artists who identify their practices as queer often call upon "utopian and dystopian alternatives to the ordinary, adopt outlaw stances, embrace criminality and opacity, and forge unprecedented kinships and relationships."[4] Queer art is also occasionally very much about sex and the embracing of unauthorised desires.[4] Queer art is highlyvisibility of which possibly ranging from being advocated for, to conversely being met with backlash, censorship, or criminalisation.[5] With sex and gender operating differently in various national, religious, and ethnic contexts, queer art necessarily holds varied meanings.[5] While historically, the term 'queer' is a homophobic slur from the 1980s AID...
